Cabinet reshuffle done

BANGKOK: -- PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday that he has completed a reshuffle of the Cabinet. "The list will be proposed for Royal endorsement when the time comes," he said.

Not confirming how many seats were changed, he implied that it could even include his PM's post.

There has been speculation about whether Deputy PM MR Pridiyathorn Devakula will be replaced by Somkid Jatusripitak, economic adviser to the National Council for Peace and Order. Prayut has reportedly been upset with the economic team led by Pridiyathorn.

Though reports have suggested that Somkid may not want to hold a ministerial portfolio, he has never ruled out such a possibility publicly.

Meanwhile, in a surprise move yesterday, chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) Borwornsak Uwanno said he would propose that an additional question - should Thailand set up a "national reconciliation government" - be added to the national referendum on the draft charter. For reconciliation to be achieved, such a government would require support from at least four-fifths or 360 out of 450 MPs, he pointed out.

If the CDC agrees to this proposal, he will submit it to the chiefs of the National Reform Council (NRC) and National Legislative Assembly for consideration, Borwornsak, who is also deputy NRC chairman, said.

The CDC also decided to write a provisional clause giving authority to the National Strategic Reform and Reconciliation Commission to restore peace and unity in a time of crisis, in addition to its authority to work on reform and reconciliation.

"Under such a government, selected senators will continue with national reform, as well as such the authority given to the strategic committee on reform and reconciliation all will lead to full democracy," CDC chairman said.

"With such a government, selected senators will continue with national reform, and with the authority given to the strategic panel, it should lead to full democracy," CDC chairman said.

What's the delay, waiting for brother to be named army chief plus a new and very ' suitable ' police chief appointed ?

At least it's better than taking his sister from presenting pie-charts someone else drew up and making her Prime Minister.

I hope you have a big slice of humble pie ready in case his brother is not promoted.

Let's be honest:

"The CDC also decided to write a provisional clause giving authority to the National Strategic Reform and Reconciliation Commission NCPO to restore peace and unity in a time of crisis, in addition to its authority to work on reform and reconciliation."

The NCPO just gets rebranded and stays in power as a shadow government. No coups are necessary.

Thailand will be no more democratic than North Korea.

And exactly why is this better?

Good job there are only 26 letters in the alphabet or I would get confused with all these acronyms..

We're only getting the diluted farang versions, Thais have 44 consonants and 15 vowels. I'm convinced most of those had to be invented to have enough 3-4 letter abbreviations for the various government agencies.

I saw info about that new clause elsewhere - it looks like they are no longer even trying to hide the "coup-replacement" clause in the new constitution. coffee1.gif

Apparently the brother will be permanent secretary. Hmmm.... Wasn't a politician ousted for promoting a nephew? I wonder what the NACC will do about it? :) Edited by candide

You've got TLAs (CDC0, FLAs (NCPO) and MLAs (NSRCC).

D T I A

Three letter abbreviations / acronyms, four letter abbreviations / acronyms and multiple letter abbreviations / acronyms.

Dont talk in abbreviations

But 'his sister' was then endorsed by the eligible voters of Thailand, unlike the General or his brother; but I'm not expecting you to comprehend the significance of that with your incredibly small-minded outlook.

So if you would be in this position,

you would put some your enemies in this position ?

( I would expect jatuporn and some his allies )

Are you this daft or are you just trolling?? You do know that not choosing your brother doesn't mean you have to chose an enemy, right? After all there are thousands of generals to chose from.

The guy running in the background inside story:

He was wearing a business suit then saw Dear General wearing the buttoned up North Korea style thingy so he raced back and changed

Prayut does like to keep em on their toes!

PS the other two are being sent for 'Attitude Adjustment' (appropriate clothing section)
