ianpants69 Posted September 22, 2006 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Our nanny is having to return to Burma, apparently all work permits issued to Burmese nationals under the Thaksin regime have been cancelled and people are being encouraged to report 'Burmese worker sightings'. This information is, according to our nanny, being broadcast on the TV. Our nanny is exceedingly worried as am I. bina Posted September 22, 2006 Share Posted September 22, 2006 (edited) 1,500 thai workers have not been able to get their work permits to israel from the offices in thailand as of the coup... from 'ha'aretz on line' newspaper yesterday there was a single little blurb in a large spread about the coup, ... have tried to get hold of the writers of the article to find out sources, info, but am unable too... makes me nervous now to go back with anon for wedding; he is leaving israel on an intravisa, what if they cancel his return back.... cant understand why thailand does the canceling as israel could care less about the coup would love it if someone would actually check out thai policy now on thai labour working over seas/foreign workers in thailand ? bina israel Edited September 22, 2006 by bina Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

teletiger Posted September 22, 2006 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Last monday a squad of provincial police turned up at our neighbours place (he's building a 6 bed house) and took away 7 of his Burmese workers. (left 2) Then they came on to our farm, drove past our Burmese farm boys (all legal) up to where our house is being built. Questioned the foreman (all thai workers) and then left.
