He also ordered every department involved to do their best to help ease the situation.“Today, the flood water is less than a metre deep and officials are using a backhoe to excavate land to drain the water, and we have four trucks pumping the floodwater out,” said Gov Nisit.“The water now only covers the roads in Baan Nai Yang and Baan Kokmud. If there is no rain tonight, everything will be back as normal by tomorrow.”Gov Nisit ordered the Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO) to take steps to prevent any outbreak of water-related diseases, and the Phuket chapter of the Red Cross has handed relief packages with basic necessities, including food.“For the long-term solution, we will have a meeting with all departments involved to find the best and fastest way to solve this problem,” Gov Nisit assured.“As for the cost of the damage, officials are surveying the area to determine the extent and cost of the damage done so we can proceed securing further assistance.” Source: http://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-governor-heads-up-relief-mission-for-floods-near-airport-53636.php -- Phuket News 2015-08-

simon43
...to deliver 270 disaster-relief packages to flood victims Ah yes, I saw the lady with her clipboard come round this morning to make a list of all Thai people (rich and poor), to hand out these goodie-bags to. She took a quick look at me, jumped on her motorbike and was never seen again.
