Smokin Joe Posted August 17, 2015 Share Posted August 17, 2015 It's closed. I just drove by 30 minutes ago (10:30, Aug 15th). Saw some kitchen equipment moved out to the center area. I went to Antons several times and yes, it was OK but nothing special. I hope it is just closed for a refurb as otherwise that's quite a few skilled staff out of work. The quality of the breakfast has gone down over the years. I gave up visiting. Never had the evening buffet. Drove-by about week ago or so and it still looked open at this time. So a very recent development. Just read some vague infos on German sources: It IS definitely closed and moving(?) to Soi 27. Don't nail me for that. There is a Domino's Pizza across the street and that's the only chain in all of Naklua. Bon Cafe 2 blocks away is often very busy. I don't go into Coffee Club. Another place gave up due to extreme rise in rent and moved far away. The start of the end in my opinion. Well they wont be moving very far then Only way to survive with the name I would say. Many places are having to demolish their frontages for example barracuda bar recently. Take away 3 m or so from Antons front and there would be very little left. They have now extended their menu so not only a breakfast place , now they serve traditional German dishes. Open unil 9 PM. Whilst today all the furniture was removed he was sitting in the place to supervising all the activities. Peter has an extensive restaurant experience in Germany. The new place is here: Anton 2 Street View (this picture on street view is from 2012, so no "Anton..." to see. Coordinates: 12.9543572,100.8949844 Opposite of "Dang Appartments". A bit tricky to find. Not just straight into Soi 27 (its some "sub Soi"). Its about 500m (550 yards) from Naklua road.
