Freezing/Suspending a work permit

Featured Replies

Last year when i needed to renew my work permit but we didnt have all the documents in time (tax office) so a well known company we used at the time freezed it or suspended it while it still had 2 days left and then once we recieved all the documents we were able to renew the work permit without needing to go through all the hassle of applying for a new work permit.

We use another company now who are not sure of the process so does anybody know of the process to suspend or freeze work permit before it expires and then renew when it has expired?

Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of such a thing.

Some offices will give you few days grace to apply after the expiration.

I have never heard of such a thing.

Definalty happened, thinking back now the reason why we did it was that at the time i had just applied for a EOS based on marriage but it had the 30 day consideration stamp and during the 30 days i needed to renew my work permit but the company said that that the department of labour would not renew it with a 30 day consideration stamp so they suspended it, once i recieved my additional 11 months they were able to renew.

A couple of others in the office also did it at different times but for different reasons.

Go back to the other company they seem better value!

If a WP renewal application is filed without all papers but before the expiry date, then you can get 'extra time' to sort out the missing papers, etc. - it was probably as simple as that, no special procedure or 'freezing'.

Basically, the part renewal filing gets you 'booked' in the queue.

Problem occurs if a WP renewal is not filed (or part filed) before the expiry date, then you are back to square one, thus needing to file a full new WP1 application.
