BANGKOK, 18 August 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has expressed his condolences to the victims of the bomb incident at Ratchaprasong Intersection, stressing that authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the culprits behind this tragic incident.


The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims in the Ratchaprasong bomb incident last night, and extended his message of condolences to the countries of the affected tourists.

He is set to provide an international explanation, maintain the international confidence with a thorough investigation to determine the culprits, and will tighten the security in areas with many international visitors and at embassies.

The Thai PM has said that this incident is considered the most severe, targeting the lives of innocent people, and intends to sabotage the nation’s economy, tourism, and image. The investigation will not exclude the possibility of political and terrorism motives in this incident.

He has said that currently it cannot be concluded what groups are responsible for this incident, therefore the media should cooperate in relaying credible and accurate information without over-analyzing or piecing theories together that could damage the nation more, while the public should the investigators some time to investigate this matter and search for the suspect.

The Prime Minister has also addressed that those who dispersed rumours on social media have been ordered for interrogation, and this person was initially from a political group with different views.
