September 10, 201510 yr Sukhumvit resembling Orchard Road? I think we're still quite some distance from that. Buckskin Joe Village, no more. Suk soi Zero, no more. Suk soi 10, no more, Clinton Plaza, no more. Washington Square, no more. Asoke market, no more. The Bladerunner Alley between soi 5 & 7, no more. We may be closer to it than you know.
September 10, 201510 yr It's a long way from closing some sleazy bar areas to becoming orchard road. The city doesn't revolve around the sex trade quite as much as some seem to think. Also, Asoke market was still there last time I looked. Or is that a euphemism for something?

Also, Asoke market was still there last time I looked. Or is that a euphemism for something? No euphemism for anything, the Asoke market I refer to was torn down a few years ago to make way for, yes you have guessed it, yet another air conditioned shopping mall. The character along with the heart and soul of Bkk is being ripped out.
September 11, 201510 yr You mean the actual market, at Asoke? The one that sells vegetables and things? Still there.
September 11, 201510 yr ^^^^, we are obviously talking about two different markets, the one that used to be there, and the one you talk of.
September 11, 201510 yr It's ironic that many of the expensive condos are built right on top of fun places that were what made the perspective areas popular to begin with, but I shouldn't forget to give the boiler room basterds partial credit for their role in ruining some formerly great places.
