Mae Sai - Thakhilek Border Crossing for 2nd Entry of Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anybody has done this trip in the last couple of days? I know they have made problems for visa exempt runners in the past but has anybody crossed the border and come straight back in the last few days (to activate a second entry on a tourist visa)? Appreciate any information, thanks.

Sorry - bad internet connection led to double post

The other ones are gone now.

You will not have a problem using the 2nd entry of your tourist visa.

OK. Thanks very much for your help.

Make sure you got flight tickets and money handy guess I just had a super correct female officer that day but this was the first time they were insisting of everything they could ask for. On a triple - second entry. They won't even let me out without the flight tickets so I had to go nearby Internet cafe and print the tickets out . 20 k in cash I had with me anyway and they ask for it. First time this happen to me after 5 visits to Mae sai

Thanks, good to know.

EDIT: Sorry, just occurred to me. A flight ticket out isn't even a requirement is it, if you hold a tourist visa?

A ticket out is not a requirement if you have any visa.

Than good luck to discuss this with the immigration officer

If I remember right they even had a sign below their window with that statement- I also know it shouldn't be but that day very hot and I didn't mind to retreat for 10 min to the air conditioning internet shop if the other option was to enter in lengthily discussion with her already two foreigners in front of me had the same issue so I choosed the obvious easiest way - but I hope this was just bad luck on that given day with that officer

I really wish they would decide on one set of rules and stick to them, at all borders. Thank you for your info anyway. When did this happen?

A month ago- and I love Thailand for being predictable unpredictable

Thanks. I used to feel the same way but the shine wears off after a while.

Not if you go back home once in a while than you re appreciate things in Asia again

if you have a visa, you don't need to prove anything. You need those requirements when u got the visa. Once u have a visa, you're good

YMMV of course, but I made the trip today and wasn't asked any questions about anything. Nothing about money or tickets. The only change I noticed from previous visits is that the Thai passport control office when you leave Thailand is now in a small 'blue box' just outside for some reason. On the front of this portable office it states the requirements for tourist visa entrants: 10,000 baht for individuals, not 20,000 baht. It is only those travelling with family who may need to show 20,000, according to their notice anyway. To reiterate, I wasn't asked to show anything, but if you go alone I would have thought 10,000 would be enough to take with you.

Did it today as well last time they wanted to see ticket and 20k this time no question askedpost-183415-14436070990672_thumb.jpg

As you can see from that notice you photographed, 20k is only for those travelling with family. Were you travelling with anybody else last time?

No

Hmm, well that's the kind of unpredictability I can do without. I don't like being forced to walk around with 20,000 baht in my pocket when I don't need it.
