Don muang to udon to near Laos border trip advise please

Featured Replies

Usually we drive from ayuthaya to my wife's parents near Laos border. Want to try less driving and shorten travel time. Thinking of flying from Don Muang to Udon Thani hire a car ( fancy nice big bike also) drive 1.5 hours. Cost is not a big issue.

Is there a better option? It's half an hour from Laos. Can fly there then hire something? Due to time constraints we are looking for a weekend trip at the shortest less tiring option. Can I hire a 500cc or thereabouts bike there? And advise appreciated.

Not sure you will gain some time doing like that .
Going from Ayuttaya to Don Muang; minimum 1 hour
be there minimum 1 hour before the departure of the plane ;
one hour flight ;
10 to 20 minutes to have your luggages ;
renting a car at the airport in Udon is easy but will take again minimum half an hour ;

Don't forget you cannot quit Thailand with a rented car/bike ; so impossible to go to Lao with it .

Ayuttaya to Udon it's about 500 kilometers , four lanes .
with a car it's 6 hours ride and you are there with your own car or truck; don't need to rent a tuk tuk or wait for a song theo going to your countryside ...
