PHNOM PENH, (Xinhua) -- A Cambodian court Monday convicted a woman of committing intentional murder and sentenced her to life in prison, according to a verdict pronounced by Presiding Judge Nou Veasna.

Former garment worker Sroeun Nann, 40, was arrested on March 6 after she doused victim Meas Vanny, 20, a co-worker of her husband, with sulfuric acid in Phnom Penh on the same day. The victim died of her injuries two weeks later.

The convict confessed that she attacked Vanny after learning that Vanny was having an affair with her husband.

Acid attacks are very cruel yet are very common in Cambodia, hope this verdict will help deter future culprits.

She should have realized her husband was the "active" partner in that relationship. He escaped injury...
