Riley'sLife Posted August 25, 2015 Share Posted August 25, 2015 Tax and insurance on my motorcy expired 8th June. (It hasn’t been used since Jan). I want to use it from mid Sept. It needs to be insured, have its annual govt check and then be taxed. Questions: 1.Does the tax back-date to 9th June? ,and 2.Is there a fine to be paid? Or, 3. Briggsy Posted August 25, 2015 Share Posted August 25, 2015 Tax is 100 Baht. Compulsory govt insurance is 323 Baht on a 125 cc. 1. I would imagine it would be back-dated as you did not inform them it was off the road. 2. I would imagine there would be a late fine for the same reason but you can try telling them it was parked off the road. 3. I would imagine tax will start on 9 June, the annual date. Dunno though. Happy Grumpy Posted August 26, 2015 Share Posted August 26, 2015 Correct. It will be back dated and the fine is a massive 1 baht p/m. Just take it to the nearest Honda dealership and get them to do it all for a few baht commission. I do that every year for the gov. Tax and Ins. There is also something like a 3 or 5 year threshold, if it isn't taxed for that period it can't be taxed again and becomes illegal to use on the road. Not that that matters to many Thais anyway.
