Re-entry permit at Sadao border crossing

Featured Replies

Hi, I am on a 'retirement' visa which will expire early next year. I am travelling to Hat Yai later this week and want to visit Penang for the day crossing in Sadao. I don't have my re-entry permit and so would like to know if I can get one at the border crossing. If I can't get one there, can I get it Don Muang Airport before flyting to Hat Yai? Also, what docs would I need to submit?

Many thanks.

If you really have a valid visa a re entry permit is not required.

My visa is valid and real and I have read about the need for such a permit and in fact got one at the airport last year when I was on the same visa and left Thailand to go on holiday. So I a not sure what you're trying to say.

Where did you get the "visa" from ?

A Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand or from a Thai immigration office ?

You have an extension of stay (which is not a Visa) based on retirement!

Re entry permits can be obtained from CW or either of the two Bangkok airports on departure.

I do not know if re entry permits are available at the border.

I am unsure if you will be able to get a reentry permit when flying domestic at Don Muang. Most likely not. The desk is after entering the area for international flights but before the passport check. I do not think it is possible to reach the reentry permit desk without a boarding card for an international flight.

I also doubt you can get a reentry permit right at the border at Sadao. There is probably a full service immigration office somewhere in Hat Yai that could do it.

If you want an easy life, fly to Penang from Don Muang.

Thank you both.

I hope someone else can confirm if the border crossing does offer the service.
