webfact Posted August 27, 2015 Share Posted August 27, 2015 Police Spokesman: Dissemination of false info is a crimeBANGKOK, 27 August 2015 (NNT) - Police Spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri has warned people in Thailand that dissemination of false information causing public panic is a crime, and those who commit it will be prosecuted.He said the latest disseminator of such information was a 17-year-old teenager from Suphanburi Province. The teen was arrested for using a Facebook account entitled “Blowing Bangkok” to publicly post frightening information.The Police Spokesman revealed that the youth admitted to the alleged crime, saying he did it because of impetuousness and frustation. The officer added the police were monitoring many more teens on similar offences, and therefore warned them to stop their action.The Police Spokesman confirmed the recent hacking of government websites had no links to the Ratchaprasong explosion, saying it was only a personal attempt by a group of people to raise their public recognition.-- NNT 2015-08-27 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That would be knowingly asking a question for which you already knew the answer and placing the RTP in a position where they would have to privide a false answer or otherwise admit they are incompetent. I guess you don't realize that there are limitations to "free speech". You can't shout out "fire" in a crowded movie theater. If someone is posting on facebook that a certain venue is going to be blown up, then, the person should be prosecuted. It's not an exercise of free speech, it's a crime.
