BANGKOK, 1 September 2015 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police has finished examining the evidence and is deliberating the revocation of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s police title.

Police Chief Police General Somyos Poompanmuang said he has already received a letter from the Office of Official Information Commission regarding the possibility of revoking the police rank of Mr. Thaksin.

The Police Chief said that no information can be revealed at this point in the deliberation process and that additional time is required. Once the deliberation process is completed, the matter will be forwarded to the Cabinet Secretary-General for further consideration.

Yet they can suspend democracy and, depending on traffic, take over the entire country in 6 hours, No Problemo! tongue.png

Seems they are using civil action tactics, made easier with a puppet media.

Ping it out there. Evaluate public attitude. Identify opposition.

Wash, rinse, repeat to condition the masses, and negate opposition.

Like this government hasnt got many more important issues to deal with in which they are a total failure but focus their time on this farce.

Soooo lame. Yeah, like this is monopolizing the entire government's resources and everyone's attention, is keeping it from doing absolutely anything else, and is totally paralyzing the government. Get real. If you want to see the man keep his rank, just man up and say so - instead of mindlessly parroting this rubbish about "the many more important issues to deal with"...

He forgets that this IS the whole point behind this "government", everything else is the distraction.

They mean to rid the country of Thaksin. Their metric for success is to have July 26 pass without ANYONE wishing him happy birthday. That will be Mission Accomplished and elections won't be far off.

What is Thaksin's official police title now? Presumably after he is cashiered in absentia he will become Constable Thaksin

Shinawatra or is he driven from the police force completely. Pity they are denied the pleasure of ripping off his epaulettes,

badges and insignias, breaking his sword and knocking his cap off his head. Bet there are plenty around who would pay good moneyto see that.

I alone will deal with Thaksin rank issue, says PM
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said he has received a recommendation from the national police to strip ousted and fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra of his police rank - but has yet to sign it.

Prayut said Tuesday at Government House that he alone would decide on whether to sign and act in accordance with the recommendation and will hold no further discussion on the matter with the Cabinet.

"If I sign it, the proposal will then be submitted to His Majesty the King for Royal endorsement," the premier explained.

In a related development, a retired police office has filed a petition to the Administrative Court claiming that the Police Act, issued in 2014, used to pursue the stripping of Thaksin's police rank was unjustly used.

Pol Colonel Banjob Sudjai, president of the Retired Police Club, was accompanied by his lawyer to file the petition yesterday. Banjob added that according to the Police Act, the national police chief had no authority to issue a regulation regarding the stripping of police rank from an officer no longer serving the police force.

Do YOU think it is important that a wanted fugitive who left the country years ago still holding a rank in what is probably one of the most corrupt institutions in the world keeps or loses his rank??

Don't know if you noticed but there have been one or two quite important things going on in this country, trafficking, airports, dead slaves, fishing, bombs, corruption etc etc...

Personally I really don't care one way or another but the way the present Junta have been getting this back into the news at every opportunity makes me think that they are completely and utterly paranoid

You have to ask yourself why the paranoia? why the fear? don't they sleep easy knowing 97% of the population are on their side...

"Royal Thai Police says removal of Thaksin's police rank underway" Untrue! What is underway is a more refined deliberation

"....regarding the possibility of revoking the police rank of Mr. Thaksin." It might be possible, but then it might not.

"...at this point in the deliberation process and that additional time is required." Yes, and more waffling and buck-passing.

This is even an issue? Why not posthumously strip him of rank then, unless of course he's luckier than the 24 officers transferred for dereliction, and been suspended with pay.

because the word posthumously refers to after someone is dead!!!

Technically, it's after being buried. ....but effectively, same diff.

ROFL. 95% of the level of effort involved was the dredging for tactics to forestall the stripping of rank. Never in the history of the world has so much energy gone into mere foot-dragging. Hardly worth mentioning the minimal effort involved in actually DOING it! No paranoia. No fear. Certainly no 97%! Just a matter of having to deal with the nattering naysayers and nabobs. These twits love to go on about how obsessed some people are with seeing justice through to the end, and don't realize how they paint themselves as addicted cultists in the process.

Why am i supposed to care? Does thaksin even care?

Yeah, sign the damn bit of paper or don't. On one hand you are trying to erase the man from history, on the other, you bring him into the headlines every five minutes. What's the matter with you?

PM says he will sign approval to strip Thaksin of police rank

11933534_10153604948433637_1404762916_n-

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said he has received a formal proposal from the Royal Thai Police that stripped the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra of his police rank.

He assured that there was no need to raise the matter to the cabinet for approval as it could be done by himself under the procedure of law.

He said as soon as the official proposal document reached him, he would sign and forward it for Royal approval.

Everything would be carried out within the rules of law after all parties considering the matter have ruled in agreement of the matter, he said.

Meanwhile Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung said today that he has signed in the proposal to officially strip the former prime minister after the police information division has confirmed the stripping of the police rank did not breach any law and was legal.

He also said the stripping of the police rank if the former prime minister needn’t to announced or published in the Royal Gazette.
