Border provinces tighten surveillance after bombing suspect arrest



SA KAEO, 3 September 2015 (NNT) – Immigration and security officials have tightened their surveillance at border areas across the country following the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in the bomb attack at Ratchaprasong Intersection.

In Sa Kaeo Province, Governor Phakarathorn Tianchai has discussed border security measures with military and police. Village headmen have been told to keep a close watch on their neighborhoods and inform authorities immediately if a suspicious-looking stranger is spotted.

In Trat Province, immigration police and military have beefed up their checks on both outgoing and incoming visitors, in search of suspected attackers. Up North, security personnel have boosted their checks on vehicles to prevent the perpetrators from escaping.

Surveillance has been particularly tight at border areas after the recent capture of the second suspected bomber in Aranyaprathet District of Sa Kaeo Province. Police said fingerprints found on bomb-making materials matched those of the suspect.
