DoubleUpower
I am wondering to be the only one having experienced what might be abuse of power when applying for a non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national .I ve been here over 10 years . I have been asked to Make a new copies of a documents while the copies handed in were of top quality . Complete and sign a questionnaire , one of the questions was ** how many times a week I had sex with my wife ** . Get an additional company stamp on the usual up to date bank statement I had been giving them for years . Have a fixed account bank book updated that had been already updated ( the book that goes with the bank statement ) . Hand over my old passports dating back 10-15 years . A week after my paperwork had been accepted by Thai immigration receiving a phone call from them telling me I had withdrawed the 400 k while it was obvious that the book had been updated by the bank's computer with a code stating it was a pay of interest . To bring some neighbour from the area where I live acting as a witness to confirm the residential address I had given Thai immigration was correct . In recent years that has never been necesary Weeks after my paperwork had been accepted by Thai immigration receiving a phone call from them telling me that my original marriage certificate , which already had been translated into Thai and accepted 10 years ago , was not suddenly valid anymore .Now I had to hand in a Thai marriage certificate . Having to make new photos of I and my wife standing in front of the house because my Thai son also had to be in the photo . Some of the above almost got me in trouble almost having to leave Thailand in order to meet visa requirements since Thai immigration did not tell me immediately . Are there any among you people having experienced trouble with Thai immigration similar to my troubles ? Has any among you ever hired a lawyer to get things done the right way when Thai immigration makes unnecessary mistakes where the applicant of a non-o visa is expected to suffer the consequences ?Any advice welcome .It is always a question of what Thai immigration comes up with this time for me when I have to renew my visa . Not that long ago I had to go back 5 ( five ) times in order to get my visa .
NanLaew
It helps greatly with our informed responses and recommendations if you tell us the location (name) of the Immigration office that is suddenly making your extension filing a big issue. Thanks for the reply , let's say it is some immigration office in the south of Thailand .I fear even more trouble if they find out who I am .They might say it is defaming them .What is wanna know is any people with similar complaints and what they did to stop that sort of behavior . Kitsune
Yes I have experienced abuse of power by immigration office, but it was for a different visa. Why does it have to be specific?
Lite Beer
The op is applying for an extension of his permission to stay. Not a Non Imm O Visa. Some of the things mentioned above are quite standard while some are not. The sex question being the most obvious. Nothing to do with them. mommysboy
No, you are not the only one. Immigration seem to be targeting us married guys in some regions anyway. Your example is extreme though.
Kitsune
it's scary how fast people forget. Indeed there are some other reports about it. You can use the search function. But what good will it do? It's not likely to ever be acknowledged or even dealt with.
