Briggsy
The deceased is a Lt-Colonel. That is not an inconsequential person in the Thai scheme of things.
thesetat2013
Where is the value of a life in Thailand? Such a stupid thing to kill someone for and these are the people who are paid to protect others. When will the Gov realize they need to find people who want to be in the police who really care and want to help others and value truth and justice and life and order. jamesbrock
When will the Gov realize they need to find people who want to be in the police who really care and want to help others and value truth and justice and life and order. About the same time the Gov realises they need to pay, train, and equip their police force enough that they don't need to resort to corruption on every conceivable level. So many people working hard, saving for the great retirement .... then it's gone before it started. be nice to everyone and give them your money!!! make them happy, not mad!!!! KunMatt
Where is the value of a life in Thailand? Such a stupid thing to kill someone for and these are the people who are paid to protect others. When will the Gov realize they need to find people who want to be in the police who really care and want to help others and value truth and justice and life and order. Last year there was a wedding party in the village that we used to live in in thre countryside of Ubon. A 14 year old kid from another village came to the party with a couple of friends. He didn't like the face of a local 12 year old kid so he shot him in the head in front of everyone there. (In this context "face" as in the Thai version of face.) I still cannot believe it and I only saw the kid a couple of times previously. Everyone else in the village soon moved on and it was never mentioned again. Life doesn't have the same value or meaning in Thailand as we give it, or certainly not as much as I value it.
MiKT
He was probably evaluated for negligently failing his annual marksmanship test.
JHolmesJr
What's interesting also is that the shooter was 56 years old, his boss was 45….makes a lot more sense if you look at it that way…these goons and their attachment to 'face'….gets you every time. drl02
It is a good thing that the Lt. returned to surrender because he was not apprehended when he ran away in front of a group of fellow policemen.
fish fingers
A major issue with the police force and army in Thailand is that they don't reward the good guys. Because of endemic bribery, the honest ones are in the minority and often bullied and overstepped when it comes to promotions. Not saying that happened here but I wonder if there was a long term beef with the younger superior.
