Visitor Visa Urgent

Recommended Posts

hey guys

erm, my agent sold me a ticket last week ,today telephoned me saying as i have booked flight for arrive in bkk april 11 and leave october 30, she said

"oh, i dont know if they will let you in ,thats a long time , what are you goin 2 do for 6 months ?,

you might need a letter of support "

i said

"but i read that lots of ppl jus do visa run every 30 or 60 days "

she said "oh, i dont think you are allowed to do that "

is this lady the worst travel agent ever ?

i thought australian passport holders may just arrive and get a 30 day stamp on arrival then run to border every time stamp runs out ?

is there more to it than that ?

i have read truckloads on site but this biatch has got me worried now

any help much appreciated

thanks in advance

I would get yourself a double entry tourist visa from your local thai embassy/consulate (time permitting of course). This will give you 60 days on arrival after which it can be extended for 30 days (1900 baht) at the immigration in thailand. then nip out the country to activate the 2nd entry which will give you another 60 days upon re-entry then extend again at immigration when the 60 days are up.............however that is still only going to get you to mid oct (havnt checked exact date on calender) so you may end up having to do a further visa run (for 30 day on entry) to get you through to your departure date. Your main problem as i can see is getting your passport to your local thai consulate and back in time............................maybe go personally ? If only you had posted a bit earlier...............good luck :o

The airlines' rules are quite clear,

For Australians visa not required for a max. stay up to 30 days provided

holding confirmed return/onward ticket.

Means, if your ticket is not onward or return within 30 days, the airline might not allow you to board. Yes, you can walk or fly out every 30 days, if you fly you need a onward/return ticket confirming that you will leave Thailand within 30 days.

Seems you have not much time to get a visa, I still would go and get one for 60 days which you can extend once in country by 30 days before you have to leave.

If cannot get on time, make a reservation with the airline and have a sticker in the ticket to confirm that you leave within 30 days. Once here, you always can change the reservation (depending on your ticket)

Your chances of being uplifted out of Australia are nil. You are in Perth it seems. Call the Consul General of Thailand at home 9386 8092 and see if he will arrange something for you. He is Brigadier Jamieson. Good luck.

hmmm, it seems i have made a grave error

thankyou very much dr pat, i did call the brigadier and he was nice enough

to speak me even though he had guests, must be a mavelous chap !

when you said "chances of bein uplifted from australia"

i take it you mean i wont be allowed to board the plane ?

does a normal visa take long to be approved/issued ?

as in a 30 or 60 day tourist visa ?

once again , thanks to all

i am pleasantly suprised at the quantity and quality of advice

cheers

to the good doctor pat pong

i called the brigadier as you said, he advised me to come in to office

which was a 3 hour drive to city but well worth it

i arrived at 9am sharp and was first in, but within 5 mins had almost a dozen ppl in line behind me ,as i filled out my application many ppl asked

" how long does it take for visa to be approved ?"

receptionist gave same answer everytime , "2 days "

i told the lady that an acquaintance of mine had given me the brigadiers

home number and am not sure if this sped things up but suffice to say

i had my 12 month multi entry o visa approved in about 5 mins

i could nt stop smiling all day !

so, bravo and kudos to the good doctor

i cant think of anywhere else i might find such helpful ppl for FREE

its no wonder this site does so well !

cheers

Put the money in a plain envelope :o and yes ... the term uplifted means carried on the flight. Kick your travel agents butt. :D
