We are a couple, Australian and Chinese, planning to travel to Thailand via Cambodia next week.

We'd like to stay in Thailand a month or more.

I know from previous experience that as an Australian I can extend my visa from within Thailand.

But we cannot figure out if Chinese citizens can extend their visa within Thailand. Chinese can get 15 days visa on arrival but, after lots of googling and reading, we can't figure out if a renewal is at all possible.

Would we be better off applying for a 1 month Thai visa whilst we are in Cambodia (running out of time), or do you think we can extend on the 15 day visa once we are in Thailand?

Does anyone have any experience or advice on this?

I believe a Chinese passport holder is entitled to a 15 day visa exempt entry which is not extendable.

The longest extension that can be gotten for a 15 day visa on arrival entry is 7 days. The only thing that could be done to get a longer stay would be to leave and re-enter to get another 15 day entry.

I don't think she will be able to get a tourist visa from the embassy in Cambodia. China is on the list of countries that can only get visas in their home country.
