Who hold your little blue book?

Featured Replies

You or your employer?

If you are asking about a work permit book ti is yours to keep.

Indeed ^^^, it's supposed to be with you at your place of work ready to be produced upon request from an authorised official.

That said, some employers like to keep it, "so we don't lose it". Not really an issue if you work in a single location, but if you're like me and work at multiple locations it really needs to be in your possession at all times.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Mine, and that of our other foreign staff is kept in the main office in case of the authorities wanting to see them, has never happened, but better safe than sorry.

I have mine with me

Thanks for the speedy replies. ^_^

As said above, it would really be up to your employer if they made it policy that it must remain at your place of work. I know some companies that like to keep them 'safe'.

As for ownership, it is yours as far as i am aware. Mine travels with me, as through the job, i am required to be in more than one place. Not at the same time, although sometimes it seems like it!

On that note, i recently wanted another address added to the WP (already have extra addresses noted) and was advised that a covering letter from the company showing venue and dates for any visits necessary is all that is required. i would imagine this would differ from area to area. This is just a precaution on my part as i have been working at another location when immigration/labour have come calling to that shop. They never asked me for anything, but i do like to be prepared, just in case..................wink.png
