What's the Trick to Get Penang Consulate site in English?

Featured Replies

http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/home

I see no English button, just Thai language except way at bottom right is one word- VISA button, and that page is in Thai although some visas do have the info in English, not the one I need- Tourist.

I'm looking for the tourist visa application forum ( My computer cannot read the PDF files on this site )

I use Google Chrome browser. If I place my cursor on the right side of the web page in an open area and right click I get a choice to translate to english. Clicking english translates the page just fine.

Edit the link you provided is to the Thai Consular affairs site

There is scroll phone number 02 203 5000 ext 1 on the Penang site that is for Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs pushing 1 as directed gets Thai Language with no English option.

Calling back and listening to voice menu Press 9 for English, gets....more Thai, but then answered by operator- who cannot speak English.

Passed round to 3 others, one of which does speak English well enough to understand the question, but unfortunately, transfers call to one who doesn't, on hold ( that hold music is the worst) then...... Hung up on.

Call back passed round as before, finally given Visa division phone number. 02 575 1062

Call.... Hello do you speak English? "Little bit" ( which means no ) OK Can I have someone who does? I get someone who does, she gives me a site Hurrah!! Consular.go.th and it is virtually the same as the Penang site, nothing in English.

I ask if she can E mail me the form, she cannot find it.

It's a like a parody of idiocy. Bring on the AEC !!

Thanks but I aready had those links, that's the same site not in English and I cannot open or read that PDF , hence looking for the application in a web page - which does not seem to exist.

Thanks for this but I use Firefox, and it doesn't work. Not sure what you mean "edit the link"? The Penang site is virtually identical to the Consular.go.th site, and neither are in English.

Completely beyond any kind of competency these sites are not in English. Do Thais need visas to be in Thailand? No. As with just about everything else it seems it's all about making it difficult so an agent has to be used.

I have tried to call the consulate numerous times, it is always busy. Should I manage to get through, I imagine I would only be directed to the same sites not in English and with no forms to be found.

Don't see any links to forms at MFA site either, just a long telephone directory list I'm sure I could spend the entire day calling the numbers and really wasting more time and soliciting frustrations, but done with trying that avenue. Will go to the internet cafe and see if I can print out the forms on those computers.

Thanks for the help.

Yep Got it. Thank you again, a thousand thanks, ....

Am also attempting to update the Adobe thingy. Hope I don't end up wiping my memory -- IT stuff is not familar to me, should remedy that and save myself a lot of frustrations like today's...

Cheers all

Can you believe, my printer just stopped working ARGHHHHHHHH

sorry

Why it's there and I can open it ( because I just updated the program? But I could read the fee rate hike yesterday so it was a matter I just couldn't find it as I could not see any buttons or tabs in English )

Appreciate it MGB

Thanks Again Thai Visa-ers !!

But that is the wrong form. The form linked to is a generic visa application form from the MFA and it will not be accepted.

Glad I checked the thread as was heading off to the cafe to get print outs So we are back to the original question, which is why doesn't Penang provide this form with the Penang heading

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6VP3EOXv5QgdGN4S0lWWHhka0E/view

on its site ( or that can be found to the English reader,) or do they?

I'll take both forms and see what they say about it.

Here is link to docs on the KL Embassy website in case anyone else is looking

http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/976

Too late to edit this above but note is application for KL Embassy ONLY not Penang

The form I posted is one that a member of the forum posted. It is the one that they will accept.

Penang's like many otter embassy and consulate websites is just a bad and outdated site. They have had the same generic form on their site for a long time.
