PHUKET: At least two Thai nationals are being treated for burns at Mission Hospital after being burned when the speedboat they were on burst into flames this morning near Royal Phuket Marina.

It is understood that the boat, belonging to a hotel on Coconut Island, was having trouble starting when the fire started about 200 metres from the popular marina. It was initially reported that four people were on the boat when the fire started.

Noticing the fire, marina security skippered a dinghy to help tow the burning vessel further away from the populated marina, before it finally was overcome by flames Two boat crew rescued from the 8 metre long boat have been transported to hospital to receive treatment for burns.

I can see no reason why anyone should be injured in such a fire unless fuel leaked all over the boat and ignited suddenly, fire - jump in water ?
