Hypothetical question here...

A guy starts dating a nurse in Bangkok. This guy has a medical history at the hospital she works at.

Is it fair to assume that she has the power/capability to just type in his (or anyone's) name into the computer at her station, and retrieve his history? The dates he was there? Which department/Dr he saw? What tests he took? What medicine he was prescribed? Etc etc? Or is more detailed information only visible to Drs? Example... assuming Drs write some sort of synopsis after each appointment.... "I saw this guy, he complained of symptom 'X', I gave him 'Test Y', he tested positive for 'Embarrassing STD Z'. Can every Dr see that? Can every nurse see that? Can *every* administrative hospital employee see that???

I suppose, maybe, only a Thai hospital employee could answer this. But maybe someone here who is dating/married to a nurse could shed some light, also.

Thank you.

The OP should learn something about medical ethics.

Stepping outside the code of professional ethics exposes an individual to disciplinary action and the possibility of losing their licence to practise.

All attempts at accessing medical records result in an audit trail which identifies the individual making the enquiry together with the date , time and terminal used.

I suggest the OP take the "hypothesis" elsewhere.

I get she can see it.

Better tell her the embarrassing thing you got before she finds out and always use condoms now, as you can get worse things.

Is this a legitimate/realistic reason a Nurse would not look up a prospective suitor's history? A nurse would not just sit at the console typing in name's, because this activity would be known to her superiors?

As you can call the bank and ask for the bank balance of someone else, if you are smart enough, I doubt that the hospitals will have such a high security and someone who plays Sherlock Holmes.

Sure someone here knows if it would be theoretically possible to look into the records.

If a nurse knew he had been a patient there and truly wanted his medical history, she could get it, though likely not quite so easy as just typing into a console. But she could, especially if the hospital in question still keeps manual records.. Whether she would or not is another matter.

There is also the possibility that another hospital employee would tell her whatever it is that you are afraid of her finding out. They should not, but they might -- especially if the something is the type of thing a girlfriend would need or want to know.

Suggest you come clean.

^ Thank you, gr8nurse.

Can you give us any idea - is it common for nurses you know to look up boyfriends/friends/etc hospital records?

Suggest you come clean.

It was honestly a hypothetical question. I like nurses, and I have also had medical issues. I am not currently dating a nurse.
