Extenting a visa on arrival

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm very sorry if this question has been asked before, but I searched the forum and found some conflicting information. I also tried to call the embassy in Bangkok plus a couple immigration offices - but got no clear answer to my questions.

I arrived last month from The Netherlands and got a 30-day stamp upon arrival. I would like to go to an Immigration Office to extend my stay with 30 days. Is this possible?

I'm traveling with a friend (also from The Netherlands), who has a 15-day stamp because she crossed the border by land. She also would like to extend her stay with 30 days. Is that possible for her and if not - how many days can she get?

Thanks so much for your help.

A 15 or 30 day visa exempt entry (it is not a visa on arrival) can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

Thanks ubonjoe for your fast reply. I didn't know it was called visa exempt entry. Can both be extended with 30 days?

Yes 30 days.

A visa on arrival is only for 15 days and costs 1000 baht and is only for those from certain countries.

You will both need to complete form TM.7 which you can download or get at the immigration office. You'll need a passport photo and the cost is 1,900 baht.

You can apply for the extension a few days before your current stay ('admitted until' date) ends. The extension will apply from the day your current say ends so nothing is lost for applying early.

TM.7
