I'm a bit confused about the role of sugar in causing diabetes and it seems others are too. I thought it was being overweight and unfit that caused the level of insulin resistance that defines diabetes 2, as well as genetic factors and ageing. Sugar of course plays a big role in people becoming overweight.
September 20, 201510 yr Author Just came across this article on detoxing: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/dec/05/detox-myth-health-diet-science-ignorance ridiculous article….I wonder if the writer has himself tried a detox instead of just opposing for the sake of it. I have personally been through a number of these and I am pretty sure I am not imagining the benefits which are visible and tangible, external as well as internally manifested. I agree with the article which is why I am not so bothered with the quality of food I eat. Cleansing is nonsense. I would put genetics, formative years, primary healthcare, amount of food, physical activity, and random luck, ahead of quality of diet given most of us eat at least some decent food, and junk food can contain quite a bit of good anyway. I do think fasting can confer some benefits though in keeping the internal organs in trim, particularly the pancreas, and rebalancing the body after a stomach upset for instance.
