Family visit, reporting to immigration

Featured Replies

We are going on a visit in a couple of weeks out of Ranong down to NST. We will be staying with family, can someone advise on the procedure please?

Immigration and the police do not normally enforce any reporting requirement for home owners or individuals. If you tried to report your presence by submitting a TM28 most local police would not know what to do with it.

Well to be honest we have never bothered before. But after Erawan, Prayut was on the box stressing the importance for hotels and residences to report the presence of nasty foreigners.

I have seen no reports of stricter enforcement. Perhaps for hotels and etc.

OK Thanks Joe. I'll just carry on as normal.

Owner of residence where you are staying also needs to do a TM 30 with nearest police station. There is a fine for failing to file. Since these forms are official forms, they typically require a police captain's acknowledgement.

Well the visit was just a few days after plans changed. We found out my wife's cousin works at Yala Immigration. His advice was if asked you just got here.
