Thailand to intensify campaign for UNSC non-permanent member
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Thailand would intensify its campaign for non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) when Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his foreign minister Don Pramudwinai were in New York next week for the UN meeting.

The premier and foreign minister will take all opportunity to campaign for the position when they were at the UN, said Foreign Ministry's spokesman Sek Wannamethee.

The UN General Assembly is a good opportunity to boost the campaign as leaders from 193 UN members will present in occasion of 70th anniversary of the UN and 2015 Sustainable Development Summit, he said.

A sad indication of how completely out of touch with reality Prayuth and his cronies are. They would do better starting up their own council along with North Korea , Zimbabwe and ISIL.

After all he has just finished telling everybody that emulating the democratic west is not the way forward for Thailand.

If this story is for general consumption, it shows how out of touch the government is with the real world. If for local consumption, another shameful attempt to mislead the public as to how great they are.

And if you think this is Thai bashing, you are right... not against the Thai people, but against whatever idiots in government think we have any chance at all to get a UNSC seat right now.
