You apply for the re-entry permit at immigration that will keep your one year extension valid if you want to travel.

so i can do all the process to get a visa non immigrant O (thai wife) one year extension with re-entry permit at office immigration in thailand ?

And with the re-entry permit, can leave and back as many times as I want ?

An extension of stay is not a visa of any kind. Visas cannot be extended.

You apply for a multiple re-entry permit at immigration that allows unlimited entries for the length of your extension of stay..

Hi guys,

I have read the entire thread. Good info but still a bit confused.

I am from Australia and have been living in Thailand for 17 years but have been working in Cambodia and Myanmar during that time. I am 48 years old.

I have been entering Thailand on a tourist visa since day one.

I have been married to a Thai lass for 11 years and have 2 kids. I am about to change work from Cambodia to Myanmar again but will have some down time at home in Thailand for about 2 months.

Because of this i will need to consider the Marriage visa.

My main concern is that i will need to leave Thailand during the first 90 days of this visa multiple times. Is that possible? To get multiple entry on the first 90 day visa?

I have money in the bank and all the documents.

Or would it be easier to fly to OZ and get a 6 month multi entry tourist visa?

Cheers.

Hi guys. Thanks for all your help so far.

So I opened a new bank account -(very difficult without a work permit I might add).

Yesterday I transferred 400,000 baht over from the UK.

Today I checked with the bank and and I have received a deposit of 399,100 baht. Somewhere along the way 400 became 399!!

Anyway, is it possible that immigration would refuse a visa because of a shortage of 900 baht? (I would think not, but this IS Thailand after all).

I could easily add another 1000 baht to tip it over, but the money would be put in locally.

Thoughts please.

Always transfer in your own currency and always send more than you need to cover any fees the bank may take out.

You could get a multiple entry non-o visa that allows you unlimited 90 day entries for a year.

You can get one in Savannakhet Laos without financial proof.

A Kor Ror 2 is the marriage registry that was created when you registered your marriage. Your wife can get one at any Amphoe by showing her ID card and paying 20 baht to get a print out of it that is dated, stamped and signed by them.

You sign all copies that are related to you and your wife signs the ones for her.

Map is from the nearest main road or street to your residence. Many offices want it to be done by hand.

Good quality printed photos will be accepted.

The transactions are copies of your bank book pages.

You will not get a 12 month non-o visa at immigration. You will get a one year extension of stay based upon marriage. If you want a multiple entry visa valid for one year you have to apply for it at an embassy or consulate.

You cannot re-register your marriage which of course means it is not needed.

Can I ask - where is this information from?

Thanks PoorSucker.

I went to immigration at Sri Racha today to check I had everything in order and it seems your list is pretty comprehensive. They gave me a Thai list of requirements which I will get translated.

The only thing that I can add is that the map has to be hand drawn (I was told).

Actually my Marriage Certificate is 5 months old - apparently I need to get a Copy from the local Amphur Office. What documents would I need to get this?

Thanks

If would be easier for you wife to get a printout of the Kor Ror 2. She could just show her ID card to have her records found.

The fee is 20 baht to get it.

How annoying.

Am I possibly the first person here to require witnesses? I can't believe that is the case.

Anyway, before I amend the list of requirements with my experiences from today, I want to have a moan.

So today we went along to Chonburi Immigration with all the documents for a Non O extension based on marriage.

...Only to be told when we got there that we needed TWO Thai witnesses to accompany us.

So off we trot to find two witnesses. Later that day we get back to immigration with our Thai witnesses.

"NO". ...Witnesses have to be FROM Chonburi, NOT another Province. (They might have just mentioned that you'd think wouldn't you?).

So we had to run around again to find alternative witnesses.

And oh yeah, they have to bring with them copies of ID and Tabian Baan.

How annoying.

I have made some notes below in red regarding my visit to Chonburi Immigration today. It may (and probably isn't) the same anywhere else.

For extension of stay.

Paperwork:

1. Two application forms T.M. 7 with two photographs size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht
2. Copy Marriage Certificate (signed by both parties)
3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office, marriage registry (not older than six months, even if marriage certificate is under 6 months old) (signed by both)
4. Child's birth certificate (if any)
5. Copy wife’s house registration (first page showing address and the page showing her details) (signed by wife)
6. Copy wife’s identity card (signed by wife)
7. Copy passport (all pages with stamps), non-Im visa, arrival card. (signed by you)
8. Interview the husband and wife for confirming status of husband and wife
9. Map to residency (names of roads and house marked in Thai and GPS coordinates) (signed by both and hand drawn)
10. 3 Pictures, one showing you outside the house with wife and house number visible, One in bedroom, One showing time relaxing. (signed by both)
11. Copy house book from residence (signed by owner and a signed copy of their ID Card, as this may not be the wife in some cases) AND rental contract. (rental contract must show address where staying)
12: Copy of the letter from the MFA showing you were able to marry (signed by you)

In addition:

Two Thai witnesses from the same Province you are applying in with copies of I.D and Tabien Baan.

Furthermore, we must be prepared for a visit from immigration, where they will come and take more photos of us WITH the immigration officer in front of and inside the house.

With money in bank option.
1. Letters from your bank same day or day before stating bank records, and a transaction list for the past two months.
2. Bank account must be in Husbands name, joint accounts will not qualify.
3. Letter from bank must show transaction during previous two months.

4. Copy of updated bankbook from the date of application. (signed by you).

5. Copy of first page of bank book showing name and account number. (signed by you).

With Income in Thailand option

3: Copy of Company documents stamped and signed, Documents must be under 6 months old.
4: Letter of employment, stating location of employment, role and renumeration.

With Income from abroad.
1. Embassy letter stating your income.

All of the above in two copies, if not in BKK. These must be separated into two 'packs'.

Immigration templates can be found here, print both sides (if any) on one piece of paper.
