Cancelling a Non-B visa

Featured Replies

Hi, I have received conflicting information from my old school and new school.

New school says I need a cancellation letter from the old school. I must then take the letter to Chiangmai immigration so that I can cancel my Non-B visa.

Old school says that a cancellation letter is not necessary, and I can just exit Thailand at Nong Khai on the day my Non-B expires (23 October).

Has anyone any experience with this situation? I don't know what to do!

Thanks in advance!

If you leave at Nong Khai you will need the letter to show them or they will not let you leave the country. Nong Khai will even want the letter on the last day to prove your job did not end before then.

You can also cancel you extension at immigration. The best way is to do it a few days before the date on the letter and immigration will post date the cancellation to the date on the letter.

Thanks ubonjoe,

I left my old school a couple of months ago. They cancelled my work permit, but I kept the non-B visa. This was due to a hold up in getting my teaching certificate from England (thus I couldn't at the time apply for a new non-B ).

Should I have any problems if I follow your advice and cancel the visa at CM immigration before I get to Nong Khai?

Thanks once again!

fixed smiley problem by putting a space between B and )

As long has you have the termination letter from the old school dated on or after the date you go to immigration you will not have a problem.
