one stop service center for small investors

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

As a small business owner owning 31% of a 6 million bahts capital company

living out of bangkok

with a work permit and non b visa expiring next month

do I have the right to apply in the one stop service center?

Is it easier than in regional immigration office? they are giving me headaches...

Thanks to share your experience,

Camille

As I wrote in your other topic you do not qualify to use it unless your company has Board of Investment privileges. Info here: http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/boi.html

Hi Ubonjoe,

Well, that's another grey area it says here:

Types of Applicants:
The following applicants, who have the right to submit an application, may receive services at the Visa and Work Permit Center.
1. An applicant who is an investor, manager, or expert, and his/her parents, spouse, or children who are his/her dependants and part of the family.

and I am an investor and manager.

It also says below:

Note: An applicant who is a manager or expert must perform duties in a juristic person having a paid-up registered capital or working capital of no less than THB 30 million.

But doesn't say if there is a limit for investor....

that's why I am still hoping...

Why don't you ask the one stop shop if you are eligible?

Don't ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer. I suspect that's why you're asking here.

When everything is due, get all your paperwork sorted and go to the one stop shop. Act confident like you know that's the right place.

Do it soon enough so that you have time to go somewhere else if need be.

The reason that the op shouldn't ask the one stop shop which entities are eligible to use their services is 2 fold.

1 - The frontline staff don't know

2 - The senior staff that possibly do know won't tell you.

Is that "advice" provided on the basis of personal experience ?

If so more detail would, I am sure, be helpful to the OP.

If you have either Australian or New Zealand investors in your company you may well be eligible to use the one stop service centre without meeting any of the aforementioned requirements. That is allowed under those countries respective FTA agreements with Thailand.

If you do some online searching you will find the relevant documents.

I have heard of visa agent/lawyers that apparently manage to use the OSSC too (without any Aus/NZ connection) but I have no first hand knowledge of how they are doing that.

Yes it is.

Do you ever have anything useful to add to a thread in this forum. I haven't noticed that.

Just been through the process for the first time to get my latest WP and extension of stay at Chamchuri Square.

Slightly off topic but thought I'd share my experience here as others may find it useful. Definitely much happier doing it through the OSSC as I get a two year WP and extension from date of application submission. The fact you can get the initial process done online and basically pre-approved saves loads of time when going to the office. Got my re-entry permit there at the same time for two years, and used the premium lane at Suvarnabhumi to cut the queue which was great. Also, at Don Mueang they seemed happy to let me use the diplomatic lane even though the BoI privileges only extend to Suvarnabhumi (as far as I'm aware).

Back to the topic at hand, the amount of capital is irrelevant to use the OSSC in this instance as the first priority is whether the company is BoI promoted. After that, capital will come in to play. Anyone can access the database to see if their company is promoted on the BoI website. The FTA for Australia and New Zealand is obviously an exception, though you will have to demonstrate that you're using the FTA to benefit from OSSC issued WP and visa extensions.

I did find the BoI advice line helpful when I called them for info. Had to provide a BoI promotion certificate, so I guess there's no way around that document unless you can utilise the aforementioned FTA exemption. A bit surprised they didn't want my medical certificate, this shows the docs required list is a bit hit or miss, but better to have everything on the list just in case.

I arrived at 7.30 with my HR person, office opened at 8 and we were out by 10.15.

Compared to the pain of running between offices, waiting for my WP for days/weeks and only getting a year I found the OSSC bliss. I do wish they modeled and applied this for all foreign worker processing, but then it wouldn't be Thailand without their love for paperwork/ under the table action.

Hi there, if you have some info about these lawyers, I'd be interested to give them a call..

I am french, any exception for us? hear of exception for americans too who can own 100% of their business even without BOI....

I am more and more enclined to set up a new company with BOI. It is quite a marathon to get it but once it is done it makes life easier... for a little while...

Thanks for all your input in this matter.
