Can I get 30 day extension with 3 day overstay?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have overstayed for 2 days (tomorrow will be the 3rd). I have an extensions left on a 2x tourist visa, I'd like to use it and then fly out in 2 weeks.

Is this extension now void automatically? If I go to immigration and provide them with proof of flight ticket home and pay the fine is there a good chance they will give me the extension at BKK immigration?

Please don't troll me.

Thanks

You should go today to apply for the extension. Immigration will normally do the extension after a short overstay and the fine is paid..

If your entry ended over the weekend you would of not paid an overstay if you had gone yesterday.

Hi Joe, it is impossible for me to get there today as I am now traveling.

With the 3 day overstay, should I just wait and pay the overstay once I leave Thailand, or should I go tomorrow and try to get the extension? I'm just worried about what will happen if I go to immigration and they refuse an extension...

The suggestion for going today was based upon you being in Bangkok.

You will get the extension tomorrow but it will cost another 500 baht.

If they denied the extension after you paid the fine and the 1900 baht fee they would give you 7 days to leave the country.

OK thanks.

Last question then, if in a worst case scenario they deny the extension, will I pay a simple overstay fee after the 7days? Or is there some sort of escalated penalty for overstay after the 7 day period to leave?

I fly out on the 9th so 7 days from tomorrow would still leave me with 2 day overstay. I understand theat I'll most likely get the extension anyway, but in case I don't I'd like to know where I stand.

As always thanks for the help Joe your the best!

The overstay fine is 500Bht/day to a max. of 20,000.

If you clear the existing overstay and then create another overstay situation 500 / day is what will be charged.

The fine for the overstay will not increase.

Is it possible to get more than 7 days for the 1900 baht?

Only if you qualify for a 30 day extension of stay based on a visa exempt entry or a tourist visa.

Extra days cannot be bought

Not unless you qualify for an extension of some kind.

The 7 days is to leave the country after an extension application was not approved.

What would you say is the maximum number of days overstay if going to an immigration office to get a late extension?

Because too many days and one could be arrested and sent through the deportation process.

I would say not more than a week.

A lot would depend on on a persons history and if you can qualify for some type of extension other than the 7 days to leave.

If a person had a ticket out of the country, money to pay the overstay fine and the 1900 baht fee immigration might do the 7 days to leave instead of sending them to IDC even with a long overstay.

Why do people overstay their visas knowingly?

Why do people overstay their visas knowingly?

I did not overstay knowingly it was a simple mistake.

More importantly, why do people knowingly post comments like yours. Not only is it unhelpful/uniciteful, but it makes me wonder who you are taking time out of your day to troll forum posts about visa issues.
