Jewelry Supposedly Sent Back With Deceased Kuwaiti Man Is Missing

Where's The Jewelry?

Gold jewels worth Kuwaiti Dinar 50,000 (6.5 million Thai Baht) brought to Kuwait along with the corpse of a Kuwaiti who died in Thailand have disappeared, reports Al-Anba.

A reliable source said recently Thai authorities informed officials of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Bangkok about the death of a Kuwaiti, who was living in Thailand.

"Kuwaiti officials completed necessary procedures for receiving the body of the Kuwaiti, who died of cerebral thrombosis, and informed his family to receive the body and collect all his properties including gold jewels worth 50,000 dinars," he added.

Indicating the body was brought to Kuwait and buried last week, the source said, "when the following day a relative of the deceased went to the Interior Ministry to claim the gold jewels he was told by officials there were no such jewels with them, although the body and jewels were brought to the country with the knowledge of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Thailand."

"When the concerned officials reviewed the list sent by officials of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Bangkok, they found the gold jewels had been deposited with the Arrival Division of the Properties Department at the Interior Ministry," he said.

"Following an investigation it was found that the Chairman of the Arrival Division, who is supposed to have received the gold, had written a note saying two employees working under his command had received the jewels."

The source went on to say the investigation committee has rejected the report as no other employee except the Chairman of the Arrivals Division is authorized to receive such items, adding "the committee will continue to interrogate the Chairman of the Arrivals Division to know what happened to the jewels."

I do hope this sense of deja vu does not progress to murder of potential witnesses.

:D I'm not sure that I would want the jewellry of a dead person.......unless it was melted down and made into something gorgeous :o

Middle-Eastern country... Missing jewels... the deja vu is indeed strong.

:o

and geez...btw,

that was a surprising conversion I did when I first read the story and when found out how much 50,000KD were in baht and is why I included it in the article. :D

Must be a slow news day :o

Naka.

The bit where they sent those particular jewels back (replacing the real thing with paste copies in the hope that the owners wouldn't notice) is a classic moment in Thai farce.

That an the chief of police's wife being photographed wearing the goods (a tiara) at a party.

So does this mean that Thai's won't be allowed to work in Kuwait for the next decade or so?

The Kuwaitis are known for their subtle interview techniques. I am glad I'm not fronting the "interview pannel".

I think the Thais are safe this time. :o

Yer - its usualy this side that gets blamed when stuff goes missing from bags and coffins.

This time round looks like the undertakers at Don Mueng can hold their hands up and quite honestly, "not us boss - the ring was on the finger when we nailed the box shut"
