Baking ingredients - general questions

Featured Replies

Can dairy for bulk baking be purchased anywhere in Bangkok? Cream Cheese, butter, heavy cream? Flours I see in local Tops.

Anyone know Thai tarrif on this stuff? Is there a date it will be zero for some countries soon?

Not sure as to your requirements in terms of quantity, but you should check Makro as you might be able to buy things like butter, heavy cream and cream cheese in the quantities that you desire.

To this date, I have not come across Butter packaged bigger than 5kg ( Makro ), Cream Cheese ~2kg ( Makro ), Mayo 1kg ( Makro ), Flour 22,5kg ( Makro ), Milk 5L ( also Makro )

As you can see, Makro seems to be the place for Bulk ingredients.

Thanks.

Palm oil and coconut oil margarine works as a replacement for the butter.

1/10 the price too (45bht/kg)

You can buy lots of the stuff from YOK online.

Flour is very cheap.

Have you tried UFM bakery at the other side of the UFM supermarket car park Sukhumvit 33/1 (I think)

They often repackage some of the ingredients and will probably sell in larger quantities if you ask.

Lots of bakery supply shops all over the place, many are cheaper than Makro + have far more stuff + far bigger packs/sacks/buckets., they do deliver to the bakery shops mainly but also open for passing trade.. also sort of things like 5 kg of cooking chocolate, icing sugar, sultanas and so on..

mostly use the one in Bang Yai as go that way, but also used a few times the one near Pinklao, [well the next road over going into the City, just passed 7/11 you turn in [is security check] big building on the end, have medium + industrial mixers in the front window] and the one at the end of the freeway going north is on the right so as soon as coming down off the end you need to get off and then U-turn...
