Learning Thai - Online and offline resources

Featured Replies

Hi, I just moved to Thailand a few weeks ago and I've found it really difficult to learn Thai on my own. Some of the websites have a wealth of information, but always seem to be lacking in several respects-the explanations, the examples, etc. Ive mostly found that they are lacking in concise explanations of the mechanics of the written system and phonetics. Which is what I'm most concerned with at the moment. Are there any websites you can recommend, even paid resources? And offline resources, like Thai people I can talk to or people who are willing to talk to a foreigner, etc (not language institutes though).

i was contacted by someone from, I guess a tutoring agency, about having students and friends that were looking for language exchanges. I'll send you a pm about it if I get more info. There's also a group on Meetup.com for Bangkok language exchanges.
