More lenient for Tourist Visa: Vientiane or Suvanakhet?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've been living in Thailand for the last three years, but I've primarily been staying in the country on non-imB visa and work permits. I stopped working in March and have been coming back into to Thailand every 60 days by flying in and getting the arrival stamp. Last time I came in, they informed me that it was the last time that I could come into the country without a visa.

So.... I'd like to leave Thailand the first of December so I need to go get a tourist visa somewhere within the next week because my 30 days is about to expire. I'm worried that they might not give me a tourist visa because of them nearly rejecting me last time I tried to come in by flight. Which of the two embassies in Laos is more lenient? Vientiane or Suvanakhet? I'd much prefer to go to vientiane as it's closer and cheaper despite the hoards of people.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this? I'm going to buy a return flight back to the US to show the embassy as well.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

  • You should have no problem getting a single or double entry TR from Vientiane or Savannakhet. No onward flight ticket needed.

Vientiane will usually allow 3 back to back visas before asking for proof of income.

You would probably have no problem flying in and getting further 30 day visa exempt entries. They cannot refuse entry for not having a visa.

Since you have not gotten any tourist visas from them both Vientiane and Savannakhet will issue you a visa without a problem.

You will not need to show a ticket out of the country.

They only look for previous entries into the country and have no access to the immigration database.

Vientiane is your obvious choice.

There is no need for the ticket and you will not experience a problem obtaining a a single or double entry Tourist Visa.

If you intend staying in Thailand for an extended period of time you should seek a more stable visa solution.
