peterjackson
If they had Aviation Safety as a priority, it wouldn't have come to this. Again, Thailand shows it's all about money. Only react when forced to do so. Proactive is obviously a word missing from the Thai vocabulary.
DirtyDan
"...Thailand’s safety standard position will not be reduced from its past standing as 1st tier in international aviation industry to unfavourable 2nd tier nation" They do have a way with words. Info share: LoS is ALREADY red-flagged! Someone should inform the good Secretary that he's now trying to play catch up. I'm trying to link the info directly from the ICAO website, but the graph is not loading. Sam Jones
Overall, Mr. Chatchai stated that he was confident that Thailand’s safety standard position will not be reduced from its past standing as 1st tier in international aviation industry to unfavourable 2nd tier nation. As mentioned Thailand is already underachivers when it come to Aviation safety (and all other safety) and I have no doubt that Mr. Chatchai will be sadly disappointed to get his arse kicked by both FAA and ICAO ... bye bye Thai Airways ... Chang_paarp
So they have suddenly hired enough internationally qualified staff? These staff are sufficiently competent in the language of international aviation (English)? These are the basic fails of the previous inspections. tigermonkey
So they have suddenly hired enough internationally qualified staff? These staff are sufficiently competent in the language of international aviation (English)? These are the basic fails of the previous inspections. It is obvious that the DCA has no intention of seeking "internationally qualified staff". Thais need no help from outside since Thais are the world's best at all such things, and the Thai military are the best in Thailand. "Chatchai Thipsunavee, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Transport, stated that the ministry with the cooperation from the Royal Thai Air Force would be able to solve the problems within the country’s civil aviation industry." In reality, the RTAF knows virtually nothing about civll aviation. However, we don't need to worry about their command of English; all Thai students are taught English from an early age. Squeegee
Instead of resolve, solve, irradicate, cure, etc. isn't it about time the Thai dreamers learned the word 'improve'? These babies are so concerned with saving face you'd think they'd be more cautious realistic. Instead they spout absolutes they can't possibly live up to and lose more face for the world to see. LivinLOS
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha, when asked about Davies' comments, didn't exactly give the envoy a helping hand. "It's up to him [Davies]. Next time don't send anyone to talk about trade with me then," he said. I think this is whats called a 'raise'.. Nice diplomacy there Uncle.. Aviation to cat.2 from cat.1. wow, what is PM going to do!! who is he going to blame!! what happens when countries will not allow Thai. airlines to land. there goes the trourist!! It's not just this government, nor indeed the one before - not that I am excusing either of them. It's symptomatic of a deep malaise that goes back many years and will, I expect, see a similar outcome for the Thai fishing industry. It's not Prayuth. It's not Yingluck. It's not Abhisit nor indeed Thaksin. It's a general inability to recognize or acknowledge the problem.
