A falang will retire very soon in our Thai company. Working for this 100%Thai company since 6 years, he will receive a monthly pension of about 35,000 Baht. With additional money coming from abroad, the 65,000 Baht/monthly rule for the retirement visa is no problem.

Will be a written confirmation letter from this (well known) Thai company enough proof?

If it is the company's own superanuation fund and it is is a well respected company it should be ok. Provide a formal letter from the company or its fund under seal, and your man should take that to his Embassy to be certified. Have his B visa altered to an O at Immigration, and apply for a one year extension based on retirement.
