Police investigating hotel US national fall as suicide

A US national fell to his death from the roof of Phnom Penh’s Sokha Hotel yesterday, with authorities saying they believe it was a suicide.

Charles Frederick Harris, 66, plunged from the terrace of the Tonle Sap Bar on the 20th floor at about 10am.

The Sokha Hotel is located in Chroy Changvar district, directly across the Tonle Bassac River from the Royal Palace.

If you want to kill someone in Asia and get away with it, just push them off a high building.

All falls from buildings are automatically ruled a suicide.

Did you not read the part about the CCTV footage? The US Embassy have viewed it too. Build tall hotels, expect jumpers.

I really wouldn't make that my choice of exit.........Cambodia is so easy to buy (The peaceful Pill) as its been named........or any mix of stuff you want.

If you really feel like cashing in buy some........book into a top hotel.... take them in the bath (or with the bath running, loud music on)......someone will come.

Don't hit some poor guy & his wife out for a stroll , doing a 20 floor drop........it's real bad Karma.....................

The rooftop 'barrier' was just shy of 5 feet high. Not something you're going to just fall over. But easy enough to jump over or to be tossed over.
