Again, his extension is no longer valid. It expired with the resignation from the job. However that is not visible for immigration as WP and Extension are not linked.

It is a calculable risk to take, as OP is already in overstay. I'd not draw further attention by doing a visa run.

To lessen any potential overstay fines, maybe just go to Singapore immediately and fly back in with a 30 day stamp. Then, if the overstay is picked up, the fine will be less than staying for another month.

He won't be charged an overstay fine as his extension is still intact. There is no point to fly out and come back as long as the extension is still "valid" (from perspective of the expiry date) as it does not change the status quo.

The correct way to do it is to go to immigration with a termination letter as soon as your job ends to have the extension canceled. Immigration will post date the cancellation if you go in a few days before the termination date to give you time to leave the country.. Or apply for a 7 day extension.

It's not intact. It ended when his employment did. The stamp will still appear as if he has a valid extension, that's only because it hasn't been updated by immigration yet, which is what he was supposed to do. (Note: when the reason for your extension of stay changes, so does your extension of stay. And it happens immediately on the same day)

Other posters mentioned his visa may still be valid, but he would be required to exit as the current extension of stay is voided.
