Russia denies US claims cruise missiles malfunctioned over Iran

"...Moscow was swift to deny there was any malfunction with them..."

Well let's do just a tiny bit of logical thinking here.

Any country (US being a prime example) that has good satellite coverage over this war torn area can EASILY determine if missiles have landed in Iran so let's take that as a given. That leaves us with 3 possibilities; either the missile was programmed on purpose to hit Iran or it was programmed wrong or it malfunctioned. I'll give the Russians this; I doubt they programmed it to hit Iran on purpose.

No, it is clear as daylight that no any missiles have landed in Iran! This is a piece of American propaganda, without any proof as always.

You are absolutely right in saying that :

Any country (US being a prime example) that has good satellite coverage over this war torn area can EASILY determine if missiles have landed in Iran

However there is only one country (namely USA) who is claiming this fact. This is a serious accusation, why not provide a proof?

Why not show the satellite images?

If it makes you sleep better at night thinking the US would lie about something like this when it can EASILY be verified by many countries then you are insane. Only Russia and Iran, who is in bed with Russia, are denying it. Iran doesn't want to make Russia look bad by confirming it, because it suits their purposes more to try and make everyone believe the US is lying. That's how twisted this Islamic extremest country is...they would rather suffer these accidental bombings in silence rather then confirm for the world that what the US said was right.

BTW, tell everyone on TV what country you are from so we can all look to your country as a role model of a perfect country to emulate.

Excellent Point, we have these Ivans all over websites in USA, trying to spew the Putiny Gospel, business insider is an Ivan Troll Site, idk if Ivan or Yank Basher, same same

I think this is supposed to be about missiles from Russian ships falling on Iraq. The US apparently has no proof but has made this claim. The Iraquis are keeping mum. I remember the US said that Russian forces fired the missile that shot down a Malaysian passenger aircraft. Again accusations and no proof. So I think we can take this with a grain of salt. Deflects against proof that the US shot up a hospital in Afghanistan for no good reason.

Hmm, no, Iran.

To Nice Boyd, I never said I believe in Russian bs. I despise the so called Russian democracy and the gay fool they have for a president. But I no longer believe in American propaganda, do you wonder why Asians are starting to follow Chinese sentiment. Off the track I know, but it does link back to the discussion. Asians are scared about Chinese land building on sea areas that do not belong to them. The world has watched as Russia increases unlawful land grabs. For the first time in 70 years, the US has stood powerless. I have no doubt that China will be the new next empire. And America is brought down to a silly propaganda programme in the mean time. Wow.

Not so sure a silly propaganda program. But definitely due to their hesitation to do what's right. Danged if you do, danged if you don't. Being the main super power in the world is fraught with risks. As we can see here. How many of us could do any better. Not me...

From the OP:

"The French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Russian strikes were not hitting the insurgents but mostly President Bashar al-Assads opponents."

Assad and Putin want to destroy the rebel opposition then go to Geneva for talks with the only choice being Assad or ISIS. Trouble for the A&P tag team is ISIS isn't cooperating either.

Russia is looking at a long haul in Syria.

correct.

yet the US are mistaken to believe a third option would lead to a secular state.

I take with a grain of salt the rhetoric coming out of any superpower including USA, all politicians should be disposed of immediately, they do not support the Commoners, it's all about power and money, not our Well Being

Putin needs to offer cooperation with the US led Arab coalition to crush ISIS because it's what a serious leader would do stepping into the present situation in Syria. Putin is instead interested only is saving the mass murderer tyrant Bashir Assad because Putin has decided it is in his own interests to do so.

The US is sitting back and keeping score. Putin says 200 IS were killed, subtract 180 and add 55 civilians..

Definitely should work together for this common goal of destroying Daesh, but Russia never puts all their cards on the table and probably US also, we do know they have a Naval Port they are concerned about, I hope Russia takes them on, I'm sick of our boys becoming cannon fodder for ME policies Edited by Nice Boyd

Please tell me the difference between these groups, because not even the CIA knows. Russia proposed a peace plan in 2012 to the west. According this plan Assad would have been replaced by now. Unfortunately the west was too arrogant and thought Assad would be removed within a couple of months and rejected the plan. After this 100 000's of people died and Europe is over run by immigrants. Russia will be using air power and Iranian soldiers to clear out the IS and that's what the west is fearing, a Russia success where they have failed.

CIA is inept but not stupid. Department of State has a listing of terrorist groups to include those operating in Syria but I'm not going to do your research for you and although I am sometimes not averse to writing a long post here or there biggrin.png I'm in a rush so here's a listing from two sources in one:

If you read the title it says "Iran". And since Iran are Russia's ally in supporting Assad, I wouldn't expect them to admit anything.

As for MH17, the report is out in the next week or so, and the investigation has been handled by the Dutch at Malaysia's request.

Will you try and blame that on the US?

Or, as Putin is likely to do, try and find someone else to pin it on?

Wasn't it cloudy weather over Iran and Syria the latest days ?

I don't think that you can see 26 missiles at low altitude, outside radar detection and under invisible cloud coverage in darkness in evening/at night...

http://www.skymetweather.com/insat/weather-satellite-images-of-india/01-00

Moreover, Russians are well aware that they've entered a war against stealth enemies outside Syrian borders.

See footages on the net where most strikes and attacks from Russian air forces in Syria have been done on low altitude below radar detection in order to keep the surprise effect.

http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/video-shows-russian-mi-24-hind-attack-helicopters-in-in-1735768242

Syrian Army air attacks were previously tipped to the rebels. The Russians are providing a turning point in this conflict by acting with long range missiles.

Which makes some others quite nervous...by providing false information like 4 missiles who didn't reach their targets...

Awaiting more nonsense in the future like OP with perhaps high tech surface to air missiles deployed for the first time in this conflict by the rebels next to their existing wall mart submachine guns delivered somewhere, somehow in the ME on the back of a shiny Toyota Hilux with cupholders....

On American saying about the Russions: "Their strategy in Syria is fundamentally flawed".

He should know: US strategy in the region has been grande. Ask any refugee flooding into the Europe today.

So you think the US is responsible for all this. Wow, how deluded and sad you are.

This war was started by a rebellion against a horrible dictator, Bashar al-Assad. I'm proud of my country for helping the rebels, though it is a bit dicey since some of those rebels are considered by some to be or could be terrorists given different circumstances. And as far as ISIS goes. If you think they should just be allowed to run around decapitating and terrorizing people and destroying 1000 year old world treasures, well then what a sad individual you are.

So Russian comes in to directly support the dictator Bashar al-Assad by targeting the rebels fighting against him and to a much lessor extent ISIS. The flaw the US is talking about is Russia supporting Bashar al-Assad. It's that simple. But now we have Russia firing cruise missiles over Iran and some of those missiles are falling in Iran. That's a little flaw also.

You believe what you want because you and many others like you are disposed to always think the US is in the wrong, the US is horrible and the US is the Great Satan.

Sometimes I do think we should just close our borders and let the rest of the world fend for itself. You might jump for joy, but after a time I don't think you would like the result.

So the liberal socialist Assad who made evil things like free education, women rights and health care, will be replaced by the humanist Al Quaida rebels. I am proud that my country is to insignificant to help the extremists.

Without America, we would have a stable Iraq, Afghanistan without narcotic exports and a stable Libya. And no refugees in Europe. I think I would like that. And the mothers of the dead US soldiers would also like to not have lost their sons for useless wars.

So "liberal" Assard!, "nice stable Iraq", well pitty about the Kurds and all the others who were murdered in their hundreds of thousands by Sadam. "Nice stable Afganistan", that would be the Soviet Republic of Afganistan I presume? Libya, wonderful free country - free to blow up airliners. Where on earth do you get your ideas from? is your country so small it can't afford TV or newspapers or even history books? Its just childish anti US bable.

Read the story, the missiles were launched from 1000km away. Should have been easy to track and preumably they exploded when they hit Iran so that would present a large signature.

I love the propaganda that all governments put out. In my time. I heard former Aust Prime minister declare that if I voted for him, all child poverty would cease. I heard that the Vietnamese navy attacked US warships in international waters. I heard about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I heard Us say that uranium was being imported into Iraq. I heard that Razputin said that Malaysia airlines flight was shot down by a Ukranian aircraft. We all know that PM of Australia, got it wrong. We all know that the reason for US to invade VN was bs. We all know that Iraq never had any US supplied weapons of mass destruction left. We know they never sought for or received uranium. We think we know that the Ruskies shot down a civil airliner, but the US propaganda machine has been caught out with so many shoddy lies, no one should ever believe them unless they present evidence. Do you get that. Evidence and not just unproven slurs. r

Actually WE all know that YOU are lying.

I am no big fan of the Russian government, but competition is good for everyone.

NATO should get out of the empire-building process.

Too funny:

Putin’s Missiles Take Out Terrorist Iranian Cows

A new and disturbing danger has apparently arisen in the Middle East, and the Russian military is on it. It appears that cows have begun aligning themselves with terrorist organizations, and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces are taking the steps necessary to shut down this bovine threat before things get any worse.

........

However, reports began to trickle out on Thursday that perhaps not all of the Russian missiles had actually made it into Syria. A report from the town of Takab, which is directly under the flight path of the Russian missiles as revealed by maps released by the Kremlin, detailed how a massive explosion at around 6 a.m. rocked the rural area on Wednesday.

The “unidentified flying object” exploded several hundred meters outside Takab, close enough to shake buildings and frighten residents.

It also killed “several head of cattle,” according to the report.

...................

So if Russia is indeed only targeting terrorists, as it has said, and if no missiles went off target, that can lead to only one conclusion: the cows were terrorists.

Indeed.

It is simply folly to deny Russia is technologically spotty at best.

Most of the cruise long range missiles got to their targets or near 'em, but too many did not. When a country fires a missile bearing a warhead at another country but hits a third country in the process, the launching country is indeed a menace to everyone to include itself.

All the early indications of Russian direct involvement in the Syrian civil war range from simply negative to the more ominous. The present stage along the spectrum of yet another Russian disaster is one of embarrassment; humiliation.

It really would have been better for Moscow to say yes, missiles went astray and we're dealing with it. Instead, with Moscow's denials, the uncertainty of Russia's missile technology becomes a dark cloud over the region and internationally. What other missile attacks planned and unplanned are in store...
