For protection against con men, try http://samarins.com/ Although this guy is based in Canada, the advice applies anywhere in the world. He offers all sorts of tips on how to spot the good from the bad. Regardless, once you've decided on a car, find a trustworthy mechanic to check it out for you and definitely give the car a test drive. Good luck!
