October 11, 201510 yr Does anyone know for sure which aircraft type operates the Khon Kaen to Chiang Mai flight by Kan Airlines. Booked on this with the wife tomorrow. I'll cope but I'm not sure about her Someone please tell me it's the ATR 72; not the Cessna Grand Caravan......... Please.......
October 11, 201510 yr Author Never mind. I'm now pretty sure (99%) it's the Cessna. This is going to be the smallest aircraft I've flown in since a deHavilland Chipmunk when I was at school.
October 11, 201510 yr Last time I saw Kan Air on KKC (mid September) it was an ATR. When they operated those KKC to U-tapao flights (now defunct) I flew with them on the ATR (~70 seats). All advertisements on the website and facebook shows the ATR. Where have you got this 99% from? But they are always good for a surprise Edited October 11, 201510 yr by KhunBENQ
October 11, 201510 yr Just found a source that proofs you are right. Its many years ago that a mate flew this route with such a small plane. I thought the times are over.
October 11, 201510 yr Just flew from Hua Hin to Chiangmai and back. Brand neww 66 seat turpo prop. very quiet and comfortable . More legroom than on international flights excellent service. now have promo flights at bt900 so i have already booked another trip. cuts out long drive to bangkok. fabulous! wii fly chiangmai for medical treatment instead of bangkok. since can get there in 3 1/2 hours and first class medical services half of bangkok prices
October 12, 201510 yr Author I thought it was the ATR when I booked the flights. If I'd known it was the Cessna at the time I might not have gone ahead. Still, never mind it's going to be an adventure. I'll find out for sure in around 7-8 hours.
October 12, 201510 yr Author I've just had a reply from the airline saying that it is in fact the ATR 72. That makes sense as I would have thought the demand was greater than the size of the Cessna with a single flight daily. Still I think I'm slightly disappointed. ...
October 12, 201510 yr I've just had a reply from the airline saying that it is in fact the ATR 72. Good news. So I had no hallucination recently
October 12, 201510 yr Author It was indeed a 70 seat ATR but it's strange that the flight tracker websites that actually had data said it was the Cessna.
