American-format Vcr

Featured Replies

Where would be a good place around Bangkok to get a VCR that plays VHS tapes (in the American/Japanese format, not the European/Thai one)? Any ideas?

Most modern vcrs (now perhaps that is an oxymoron as vcr technology is old, and on the way out, almost gone in fact) will play ntsc tapes with out any problem.

When you go shopping I suggest you take a tape with you, but I doubt you will have a problem.

If there is a problem, look for a small switch marked PAL/NTSC/Auto.

It will probably be in the Auto position, switching to NTSC should do the trick.

Try Tesco or Carrefour or any big department store electronics department. Not much available now but all of them should carry at least a couple of basic models. Likes Astral says, playing NTSC tapes won't be a problem.
