BANGKOK: -- The private sector says the government's economic stimulus packages rolled out recently is a right decision although it may not see immediate result.

Sahapat Group president Boonyasit Chokewattana said he believed that the government is heading in the right direction in solving the country’s economic problems, though the results will not be seen right away.

However he foresaw that the people’s purchasing powers could be revived in the coming year.

He also revealed that the commerce ministry has inked an agreement with Sahapat Group to lift the quality of Thai products to meet the label of “Thailand BEST”.

He said Sahapat Group has also announced that it will be a leader in bringing Thai SMEs into the e-commerce sector, to better penetrate the global market.

Meanwhile Big C Supermarket vice president for marketing and communications Robert Godwin said although the government has been implementing various measures to help stimulate the economy, concrete results will bear fruit next year.

He said that the move should help to increase the people’s purchasing powers.

But he admitted that the public is currently being more mindful of their spending, while the purchasing powers of the people living other provinces are much lower than those in Bangkok.

Well... the real estate sector perhaps. I wonder how much this guy has invested in the real eatate sector?

"PROPERTY firms expect to reap windfalls from the government's new measures for the real-estate sector, while economists have cast doubt over the overall effectiveness of the programme in boosting the economy." - Doubts over effect of govt stimulus,
