"Prayut to reduce his media commitments"

It's a shame, really. I rather enjoyed his almost daily gaffes that brought us glimpses of what their (old elite) true motives and opinions are.

And this is wholly okay that a guy could hijack the country, install himself as PM under martial law, and have his own political propaganda television show, whereas, a truly elected Samak Sundaravej got toppled for cooking on television.

for braking the constitution lying about it and getting caught doing so. He could have been reelected by the parliament, but instead they elected Thaksins brother in law.

"for braking the constitution..."

You mean unlike the current "PM"?

I think Prayuth annulled the current constitution when he made the coup. So you can't brake something that doesn't exist.

Extraordinary! And they say those of us who talk about elections are deluded, or are rewriting the facts!

Well said h90. Wrtten (and badly spelled) like a true son of fascism:

"IL DUCE HA SEMPRE RAGIONE!"

Anyway, you can break something that did exist at the time, which he did. Your 'argument' is preposterous.(h90, that is.) Edited by baboon

Prayut... has decided to be more cautious when speaking on matters to prevent misleading media reports that could fracture society,

with all that confusion and misleading he's done, I would say that he is way overdue for some attitude adjustment. coffee1.gif

Haha , made me immediately think of the famous mutating quote...

" Best to be quiet and be thought a fool, instead of opening your mouth

and removing all doubt"

If there is one thing the Thai media does well, it is to show up at the appointed hour, listen to some officials pontificating, and duly report whatever messages were conveyed. That is why we read so many news reports here on TVF that are just disjointed quotes, and summaries of official statements. There is very little analysis, follow-up, or an attempt to construct a cohesive narrative.

Under these conditions, in which the media acts as "stenographer", it can hardly be the media's fault when "misunderstandings" occur.

So, less of the PM.

I will miss his smile, his impeccable clothes, his darting eyes.

You might have a point!

Harping back to an article (in The Nation, on October 9) about misunderstood comments by the PM regarding the “great firewall”.

See http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/PM-upset-with-note-takers-at-meeting-on-plan-30270501.html

The headline reads “PM upset with note-takers at meeting on plan”

PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday that he would take to task the officials who took down notes during the Cabinet meeting over the single Internet gateway plan.

He also insisted that he had not considered or issued any orders over the plan when confronted by reporters who said the Cabinet meeting's minutes indicated that orders related to the plan had been issued four times.

Prayut defended himself by saying that those who recorded notes of the meeting may not have jotted down every detail. "I am going to get those officials who took down notes at the meeting.”

On this occasion it would certainly seem unlikely that it’s the media's fault, and you would think the Cabinet note-takers were simply recording what was being said (without trying to interpret or embellish it in any way), so it is hard to see how it could be their fault either.

So, how did the message get misunderstood?
