I noticed malaysia apple store prices increased from 1150 usd to 1400 usd for Macbook Pro Retina 13" cheapest option.

Today I realized, Thailand Apple store prices also increased from 43900 baht to 49900 baht. From $1244 to $1414 usd

I was holding myself to buy a macbook pro retina. Now I regret why I didn't buy one when price was right.

(I didn't buy from iStudio because I don't want Thai letters in keyboard)

Price increase due to better specs or just a bigger profit margin for Apple? Or maybe currency exchange related?

Currency related.

That laptop model is $1299 in USA

It was cheaper in SEA region for several months.

Singapore Apple store prices still same, but I doubt flying to Singapore + Taxi fees + 1000 baht re-entry permit for my visa will make it cheaper.

If I can get VAT (GST) refund fully, then it'll cost like 1130 usd in Singapore which makes it interesting.

August is the Month when Apple refreshes its models so you need to check the Apple SKU (that's the part number) to make sure you are looking at the same model. As a guide the latest models using integrated graphics feature Intel 6100 graphics. Those with 6000 graphics are earlier models.

You may also like to await for Microsoft's Surface Book, about to be launched. Pricing $1499.00 in U.S.A. Claimed by Microsoft to run at twice the speed of the MacBook Pro, this new model - not to be confused with the Surface Pro, may shake the Market and encourage Apple to replace its aging MacBook range.

yes the 15 inch retina is now 84000. It was 79k about 2 to 3 months ago. Its is a slightly newer spec / model. The guy at apple showed me the spec / lable which indicated june 2015. I cant remember where he showed me this but it could be in the about section somewhere on the laptop.

When i convert 84k to my money in oz dollars its a lot of coin to spend but I cant go back to microsoft. once you have mac you cant go back...

Totally agree, ghworker. My iPhone 6S Plus, 27" iMac and wife's iPad Air 2 sync beautifully.

I regularly resell my Apple products and can command top price for mint condition. I really do look after them, particularly as they cost me a small fortune. You get what you pay for and I reinvest the resale value to the latest products.

I'm looking to sell my 27" iMac and update. Cost me £3,200 and is a video editors dream. Whatever, I enjoyed every minute of ownership.

I bought my Macbook Pro Retina 2 months ago and got a good deal. Bought it online from Apple.th and it was shipped from China.

Just tell iStudio you want an English keyboard and not Thai. They will order it for you. No big deal if you dont mind waiting.

At least from my experience, if you get a Thai language keyboard, the keys have both English and Thai characters, and the English characters are larger. Can be useful if you occasionally hunt and peck Thai or someone who actually types Thai wants to use your keyboard.

Apple announced that prices are increasing in some Asian countries because of the exchange rate changes.

I doubtt iStudio will provide Macbook with English keyboard for the old price. If they didn't update their prices yet, they will soon (atleast after their stock is finished)

I just found out, there is a new promotion in iStudio.

If you own an ipad or iPhone, you can buy base model macbook pro retina 13.3" with 128gb ssd for 41,500 baht instead of 49,900 new inflated price.

Also, macbook air 13.3" benefits from this promotion (lower price) and is 33,300 baht.

Now, question is if they can provide macbook with english only keyboard, not english / thai (I'm not native English speaker and I don't want extra distractions in keyboard)

I'll have my missus call them and ask. With current exchange rate, it makes macbook pro 13.3" retina to 1170~ usd which is pretty good. iStudio can also provide vat-refund forms (hopefully can combine with this promotion) and then I can get further ~5% (was full 7% before) back in pocket.

Edit:

Link to the promotion page (Thai only, In Image format of course so you can't translate it with google doh!). Promotion ends in 15 november 2015.
