BANGKOK:-- Business Development Department says it received 13% less applications for company registration this year, attributing economic slowdown as a main reason.

The department says the number of applicants amounted to 5,302 in September, down by 777 or 13% year on year.

Total investment value by the newly registered firms amounted to 45.51 billion baht.

It attributed the decrease in number of applicants to the ongoing economic slowdown.

It said that in the first nine months of this year, the number of applicants for new company registration amounted to 47,159, up by 2% year on year.

But it remained confident the number of applications will exceed 60,000 this year, thanks partly to the government’s economic stimulus measures and mega investment projects.

And eighty percent of this 13% fall is due to lesser landed properties and condos being bought by foreigners...

Without China, they would have collapsed! But still time?

In an earlier today's post they claimed to have a rise of 544% on e-Commerce business registrations.

My reply was: I think that DBD needs a new calculator !!!

E-commerce business registrations jump 544% in 10 months

It would be equally important to know the number of registrations that went inactive or cancelled.

They don't really specify what the breakdown of the registrations are, as in limited corp, or say just a name registration. :(
