Chinese Investors Focusing on Sihanoukville Port

BEIJING – Chinese officials are scheduled to meet with their counterparts in Cambodia next month to discuss direct shipping of freight between Beihai port in Guangxi province to Sihanoukville, a senior official from the province in Southeastern China told a group of visiting journalists from Cambodia on Tuesday.

Huang Lingzhi, president of the Department of Foreign Cooperation in Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, said that Beihai Port in the economic zone will link directly to Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in order to increase trade.

Mr. Huang suggested that Sihanoukville Autonomous Port could also be a regional port, saying that officials from other Asean states will attend the meeting next month to discuss increasing trade between China and Asean.
