bander
I am currently waiting for a package mailed from the US on August 24. The help center and the local PO both say the tracking number is not in the system. Should I give up? Or should I call Anekpong and Niyom to check if they have it? I was told 25 years ago that only about 85% of the mail actually makes it through. Any guesses on the real percentage? I would guess more like 50%. bander
I think the same thing happens at other postal systems all over the World, not just Thailand, but in the West too, all they need to do now is catch the bastard that stole the birthday card with money in that was sent for my daughter. regards worgeordie Please stop your apologist attitude, everyone who has been here for more than a day knows what a bunch of scammers they are. Saan
I live in Chiang Mai and have never had a letter delivered to my home address where I have lived for over 5 years. I gave up and got a post box at another post office and have never missed a delivery that I am aware of. It is a pain in the arse having to drive there and walk up the stairs to check if there is any mail.. I know, I know every one else gets theirs delivered the next day after posting. Even when an item was broken in transit, they paid compensation. Don't let a few corrupt individuals tarnish your view.
EnglishJohn
As a general rule, get stuff sent with a tracking number. Then it will show where it went missing. I have had lots of untracked stuff go missing in Thailand. Tracked stuff often 'hibernates' in the main sorting office somewhere, but at least you can call to find out. I reckon they keep it for a time then decide nobody really wants it so they may as well have it themselves ...
emilymat
This issue should be on the General's list of priorities. I have several experiences recently of stuff going missing, but like a previous poster, some years ago all my packages from the Uk always got through. I wonder if any of our US friends on this forum could confirm my understanding that interfering with the US post, one it's in the post box, is a federal offence. (We don't have the feds in the UK). If it is, maybe a similar deterrent has to be introduced here.

harleyclarkey
I and a pal left luggage into the luggage at Swampy which is run by Chubb!!. Of course it was rifled and a lot of stuff stolen. Look at the cameras say I naively. O...take long time to see....maybe 2-3 days. Lo and behold the creep comes back to the Tourist Police an hour later to say the cameras show nothing!! The word 'apologist' is really beginning to get on my nerves, like all ready-made words that stem from ready-made thinking. Do, please, by all means, pack your bags and go back to your country, where you will doubtless indulge in the same ranting activity after one or two months. Because this ranting disease is not due to the country you live in, it's the result of your own bitterness and frustrations. monkey4u
do they have inactive post for the post office? Might as well just send them there. The BIB do much worse and that seems to be the only punishment they usually get. We have an inactive postman He comes once a week Maybe he needs Viagra
roiethome
Not surprised at all about this. Over the last twenty years, I estimate that half the post sent to me from Europe has been lost and I expect all of it when it is in Thailand, as western countries have procedures to combat pilferage. My bank in Singapore will refuse to send credit cards to Thailand using mail service as they know it has a good chance of being 'diverted'.
