Long-term British expat found dead at Rawai home
Darawan Naknakhon

PHUKET: -- A long-term British expat was found dead by his partner after she returned to their home in Soi Saiyuan in Rawai yesterday night (Oct 21). Police have yet to confirm the cause of death.

Rawai Police attended the scene to find the body of the 55-year-old man (name withheld until his family have been informed) lying on his back on the floor. Police have stated that there were no signs of foul play or assault on the body.

The victim’s partner told police that she returned home at 11:30pm and found the man resting his head on the TV stand. However, he did not respond when she tried to talk to him.

It's worth quoting some other details in the full news story ....

"She also told us that the man didnt suffer from any illnesses, but he did drink alcohol and occasionally smoked cigarettes. He had recently been fighting a cold she said."

No doubt the Thaivisa detectives will soon be on the case ... my respects to the deceased man

he did drink apparently, so maybe he was a heavy drinker.

55 yrs seems quite young so I would be looking for other evidence. Was the partner visiting her mother ? what medicine was in the room ? and where is his mobile ?

these questions have to be answered before any easy assessment can be made ..... they at least owe him that right.

I'm not saying what happen but give me some answers.

RIP and best wishes to his family and friends.

55 is young. Not enough facts to make any conclusions in this story. I would be questioning why he was found on his back on the floor when the police arrived, but his partner said when she returned home, he was resting his head on the TV stand. It's possible he was moved when the neighbors tried to revive him, but it does require some questioning and further investigation including corroborating statements from the neighbors that they had moved him (I doubt his partner is strong enough to move him that way on her own).

It's rather interesting how over the last month so many Expats have been dying in Thailand

We must all go, at any age...

RIP chap..........

So true.

A few years ago a friend of mine died in my lounge room while I was away.

Apparently he had a bad heart for a long time.

He was only 32 years old.

He died on the job though and they say that it took a week to get the smile off his face.

Not a bad way to go, I guess.

....no concern....no emotion.........the message is....nobody gives a damn....even further....people prefer that you are gone....

...wonder how much he 'paid/gave' before 'his time was up'......

...maybe not the case here...I know nothing of the man (victim?) or his 'partner'....

...but 'no foul play'....'case closed'.....

...a killer...or psycho can have 'a field day' it seems....

...just have to be Thai....and the target a foreigner...

...disconcerting to say the least....

What is the relevance of your posting these same bizarre questions every time this kind of incident is reported?

Hard to believe that you offered your "best wishes" to his family on his death, talk about tactless.

Why would you question his being on his back, is there a correct position to be in in that situation? And what is the issue with moving someone in order to attempt to revive him? I take it you knew the deceased and his partner well enough to doubt whether she was able to move him.

because these incidents can not just be easily ruled as natural causes, I want to get to the bottom of each case ..... a 55yr old doesn't just keel over for no reason.

A japanese guy died last week and the wife just happened to be visiting her mother that day ..... it's suspicious to me.

I want to know what is going on ....... the rescue guys must be thinking how much they are making lately.

I can't sleep when 5 farangs turn the light out in such a short time and 55 yrs makes me think !!!!

No concern or emotion, from whom? Do you expect to read reports that the police attending the incident were distraught and sobbing at the scene?

His body was taken to a hospital, presumably for a postmortem, so there is no reason for you to claim that the case is closed just because he was a foreigner.

How you can come to the conclusion from this report or your own weird comments that "a killer or psycho" can have a field day is beyond comprehension.

Asking those tediously repetitive questions every time is not going to get you anywhere in the case and certainly not to the bottom of any of them. These reports are published to inform not to request assistance with the investigation from TV posters.

Of course, there is always a reason a person dies, the age is inconsequential, and that is why his body was removed to a hospital, for a postmortem.

The Japanese man you refer to didn't just die, he was murdered and two people have been charged. Whether there was medicine in the room or the whereabouts of his phone were irrelevant.

Try some Horlicks or Ovaltine if you want to sleep better, knowing the location of the phone of a deceased person won't help at all.

For the information of the conspiracy theorists on this thread, it's quite possible to die of a heart attack or brain aneurysm at any age - 55 is not a magic number. Genetics and lifestyle also play a part. Suggest you all wait for the autopsy results before ..... oh wait, the coroners here are all corrupt so we don't believe them either.

Has it occurred to any of you geniuses if nobody died, we'd be ass-deep in people?

It's also interesting there is usually a Thai women in the deceased's background, as well.

Ridiculous comment - are farang expats not allowed a live-in Thai g/f or wife. Would you prefer they all be homosexual or have casual ladies of the night. Stupid comment.

Well, it would be interesting to see the statistics of deceased expats, of any age, who are in relationships with a Thai women, to deceased expats, of any age, who are single, traffic accidents aside.

Certainly, the suicide statisitcs, for expats, would have to be a lot higher for those in a relationship / financial agreement with a Thai women. Especially with the "balcony jumpers."

I will not respond to your personal attack.

"oh wait, the coroners here are all corrupt so we don't believe them either" - possibly not so much corrupt, than lazy and incompetent.

R. I. P. to the guy.

You were right but it took until post 8 before the first Clueso wannabe turned up!

This long-term expat is likely to have been by someone on Thai Visa, maybe they can offer more information.

RIP youngish guy. You certainly went far to young. I certainty hope there is a full/proper

autopsy and investigation if there is anything suspicious, but I will not hold my breath.

One can not be too careful...we are money bag invaders to many Thais...ripe for picking...to be exploited...used and discarded...sometimes in the most despicable ways...

Way too many ex-pats "commit suicide"...some rather ridiculous conclusions for what would be a homicide investigation in most civilized countries...

My favorite: The couple found floating near their yacht...both heads had been removed...official cause of death...you guessed it!

I have no problem with the Thai girls lying, scamming, manipulating, throwing tantrums etc etc to get money out of a farang - that's their job.

However, the DUTY of police is to investigate the death of an individual, and should one of these Thai ladies resort to violence to achieve a financial outcome, after a proper investigation, they should be charged, prosecuted and incarcerated, just in the same way police here investigate a crime that damages the tourism industry.

i had a friend just sit down and drink so much at one time he died. alcohol poisoning. and he was 47 years old and in excellent physical condition.

at 55 this man could easily have a heart attack, be very over weight, smoking, have a undiagnosed heart problem and maybe taking Viagra when he should not be.

his wife did it... :)
